Palm Trees

In Girl Scouts we've been working with making decorations for our father-daughter dance. The theme? Hawaii. We can up with the idea of making palm trees(flat ones and 3D ones). We thought of making trees out of balloons, in fact that was the first idea, and then our troop leader came up with the idea(she found this somewhere on the internet)that we make palm trees with carpet rolls. The leaves? Also quite simple. Take a bent coat hanger, get some green paper, fold the paper in half, cut it to the shape of a palm leaf, cut small frills, tape it to the wire. Here's what it looks like.

We just experimented with white. If you look, the paper is bent over the wire. This gives it a leafy shape. All that's left is to trim the frills in the leaf(I can't remember what they're really called). Ta-Da! Now all you have to do is make about 4 or 5 more of those. Depending on how wide the carpet roll is. My troop is going to layer more filly paper on the trunk to make it look like bark, this paper will be brown though. I'll edit this post and add a photo when the tree is complete. Have fun with this please, and tell more people about my blog!

New Site for Hairstyles

One of my friends from school recommended a site with all sorts of crazy hairstyles on it. I didn't want to copy anything down, even if I put in the credit(it's nicer to lead people to other sites, and it saves me time). Here's the link to Cute Girls Hairstyles. Enjoy!

Tchoukball

Yes, it is a real game. And a really fun one at that. Recently in P.E, we rapped up the unit of tchoukball(pronounced "chuck-ball"((the "t" is silent))). This is a game where you take a ball smaller than a soccer ball and a basketball, and thrown at a trampoline-like thing. You toss the ball to other players, but get this; you can only take 3 steps with the ball, you can only hold the ball for 3 seconds, and the maximum of passes before attempting to score is 3. Whoever made this game must have been crazy about the number 3. There's a ring around the "goal", you can not touch the inside of this ring when attempting to score. However, you are allowed to leap into it and throw the ball, as long as your feet don't touch the inside-ring while holding the ball. Here's what the "goal" looks like.

If the ball bounces off of the frame, there's no point. If it bounces off the middle but does not land outside the ring, no point. If the ball is caught by the other team, no point. And, get this, you can go for whichever goal is nearest. That's basically the game. And, if the team who's attempting to score touches the ball as it's coming back, point for the other team. Isn't all that so complicated?

"Golden year animals"

About a year ago, I invented a game I call, "Golden Year Animals." Yes, I know. Not the best name. I can't think of a name that really suits it. Anyhow, you guys know that spiral-pencil-thingy-or-whatever? Probably not with a description like that. Sorry. Well, the game board is simply that used on a piece of paper, like this.
The game is played by two people, I'll show you how to play over this video.

I forgot to mention this, but if when they were still in the middle(after a battle round)they rolled a 1, a 6, or the same number, they would not be allowed out and have to keep battling.

Four braids and two Piggies

Are you guys looking for a new and creative way to pull back your hair? I can help you with that. Often my hair gets in my face, so I simply tuck it behind my ears. At the end of the day, my hair's such a mess, that even after conditioning it in the shower it's hard to brush. So, I began to enjoy braids, but they were all, well, everyone had already seen them. So I came up with my own. Here's what I did.

Step 1:

Split your hair evenly through the middle, as though you were doing pigtails.

Step 2:

Tie you hair into pigtails, but make them low, and right behind your ears. This makes it easier to braid.

Step 3:

Take one pigtail, and split it into two sections(you can do three if you really want to go "all-out" on everybody).

Step 4:

Place one of the sections in front of you, and put the extra(s) over on your back. Then take the section in front of you and use the simple braid to braid it to the end. Do the same with the other section(s) and work your way to the next pigtail.

Finished!
